Python Star at Henley Literary Festival
YOU can’t beat a good book and a nice glass of wine – and with that in mind a leading Bucks wine merchant is to sponsor this year’s Henley Literary Festival.
Laithwaites Wine, which has some of its vineyards in Marlow, has announced it will be the lead sponsor of this year’s event, which will be held in September.
Former Python turned travel guru Michael Palin, former Prime Minister John Major, ex minister Michael Portillo, cookery writer Josceline Dimbleby and novelist David Lodge will be among the speakers at the Henley Festival, which is now in its sixth year.
This year’s Festival takes place from September 24-30 and will host more than 80 events around the Oxfordshire town.
Festival founder Sue Ryan said: “Festivals like ours cannot continue without financial support and just as we were wondering how our Festival could continue to get grow and prosper, Laithwaites secured its future by offering us their support. “They are the perfect partner for us as they reflect what we are about. Like us they are a local company with a national reach, and like us their success is based on a discerning and enthusiastic public.”
