Ticket Sale Success
‘More than 7,000 tickets have been sold for the Henley Literary Festival in the four weeks since they went on sale.
The sixth annual event will be held from September 24 to 30.
Events director Harriet Reed-Ryan said: “Sales are really good and the total is more than we sold for the entire first festival when we sold 3,000 tickets.
“This is our best year yet and I think it is because of the names that we have appearing as well as because we have got a strong name now.”
Travel writer and comedy actor Michael Palin, former prime minister John Major and Great British Menu judge Prue Leith have all sold out.
But there are still 7,000 tickets available and 80 events still not sold out. Other guests include Jilly Cooper, Brian Moore, Richard Ingrams, Sandy Gall, Richard Littlejohn, Rachel Johnson and Gyles Brandreth.
Festival founder Sue Ryan said: “The lovely thing is that everybody is selling well as opposed to five events selling out and 20 selling nothing. To be able to achieve 50 per cent sales with only six events sold out is fantastic.”
