Festival FAQs

The Festival will take place from Saturday 2th September – Sunday 4th October, 2020 across various venues in Henley on Thames. See our Festival Map or Venues page for more details.

We also hold one-off events throughout the year so check our What’s On page regularly for details or sign up to our newsletter.

Gold Friends can book from Friday 10th July. Friends can book from Monday 13th July. Tickets go on general sale on Monday 20th July. To find out more about becoming a Friend click here.

When tickets go on sale you can either book online via our What’s On page, or by calling the box office on 01491 579548 from 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday.

During the festival you will be able to purchase tickets from the live box office in the Festival Hub.

We cannot accept ticket bookings via email.

From July telephone bookings can be made between 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday.

From Saturday 26th September to Sunday 4th October, the live box office will be open from 9am-8.30pm daily in the Festival Hub.

Tickets cannot be collected from venues during the festival week.

Tickets must be collected from the live box office located in the Festival Hub in the Market Place (RG9 2AQ) from Saturday 26th September.

Please allow enough time to collect your tickets from the box office before your event begins as they cannot be issued at the venues.

From Saturday 26th September, the box office will be located in the Festival Hub in the Market Place (RG9 2AQ), outside the Town Hall.

However from 5.30pm on Wednesday 30th September until 8.30pm on Thursday 1st October, the box office will move to the Festival Office, Kings Arms Barn, RG9 2DG (next to the Citizens Advice bureau). It will return to the Festival Hub from 9am on Friday 2nd October.

If you call the box office we can add you to the waiting list for your chosen sold out event. If tickets become available we will contact the waiting list by email and tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. Waiting lists will be closed shortly before the festival begins.

Tickets sometimes become available on the day of the event, so it is always worth going to the venue 30 minutes before the event starts and asking for tickets (these will be cash only).

Tickets will arrive no later than 2 weeks prior to the festival. If your tickets haven’t arrived by then please contact the box office.

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled. Before the 30th August we can exchange your tickets for another event. Any requests after the 30th will not be accepted. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further details.

If you are driving to Henley, please allow plenty of time to find a parking space. Please use one of the public car parks around Henley, Kings Road RG9 2DG max 3 hours, Greys Road RG9 2FA max 3 hours, Henley Station RG9 1AY all day, Rugby Club RG9 2JA all day until 7pm. There is limited visitor parking at Phyllis Court for those attending events there.

Once the festival is underway we may not be able to answer the box office line as frequently. If you can’t find the answer to your question above then please leave us a message or email info@henleyliteraryfestival.co.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Adult events last for approximately 1 hour and Children’s events last for approximately 45minutes.

There will be a book signing after each event in the same venue (unless stated otherwise).

If you’re ticket included a book then we will issue it at the time of the event at the venue.

Yes! Please arrive in good time before your event starts as latecomers will be left on shore.
