Henley Literary Festival celebrates International Women’s Day with pop up event
In the week of International Women’s Day, Henley Literary Festival have announced they will be doing a special event to celebrate with a panel including three of the country’s most in-demand speakers and writers talking about what it is to be a woman in 2019,.
On the 4th March Helen Lederer, Daisy Buchanan, and Nikita Gill will come together at The River and Rowing museum to discuss everything from #MeToo and period poverty to female friendship and the women that inspire them.
Comedian and author Helen has been making us laugh on screen for over three decades, from ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ to ‘Naked Video’. Her most recent book ‘Losing It’ was nominated for the Wodehouse Prize. She has recently launched the Comedy Women in Print Prize, giving female comedy writing the recognition it deserves.. Award-winning journalist Daisy returns to Henley the week her second book ‘Sisterhood: A Love Letter To The Women Who Have Shaped Me’ is published. Grazia’s agony aunt turned reality TV expert, Daisy also hosts the brilliant ‘You’re Booked’ podcast and is a regular guest on Radio 4, Sky News and Good Morning Britain.
With widespread acclaim for her collections ‘Your Soul is a River’ and ‘Wild Embers’, Nikita is one of the most popular young voices in poetry around the world, with almost 500,000 followers on Instagram. Her latest book ‘Fierce Fairytales’ reimagines classic fairytales as empowering messages for adult women.
“We are absolutely delighted to have such a wonderful line up for our first pop up of 2019. We plan to do a lot more pop ups this year and this feels like a brilliant one to start on.
